One of the greatest strengths of a community kindergarten is the partnership between families and educators.

We recognise that children thrive when the important adults in their lives communicate openly, respect one another's perspectives and work together towards shared goals.

Our relationships with families are built on trust, mutual respect and a shared commitment to supporting every child's learning, wellbeing and development.

 

Communication

Open communication helps us build strong relationships and provide the best possible support for children.

​

Our primary form of communication is Storypark, where families will receive learning stories, announcements, reminders, community updates and opportunities to contribute to our ongoing reflections and inquiries.

​

We also communicate through the kindergarten mobile phone, email, the XAP Parent App, newsletters where appropriate and our kindergarten website.

​

We encourage families to regularly check Storypark, as it is our main source of day-to-day communication throughout the year.

 

Working in Partnership

Children benefit most when families and educators share information, celebrate successes and work together to support their learning and wellbeing.

​

We value open conversations and encourage families to share changes, achievements, concerns or important events that may influence their child's experiences at kindergarten.

​

Likewise, educators will communicate openly with families about children's learning, wellbeing and development, recognising that respectful partnerships help create the best outcomes for children.

 

Respecting Professional Expertise

We recognise that families know their child best, and educators bring professional knowledge of child development, early childhood education and the kindergarten learning environment.

​

By combining these perspectives, we can develop a deeper understanding of each child and work together to support their individual strengths, interests and needs.

 

Staying Connected

Throughout the year we invite families to participate in many aspects of kindergarten life, including community events, working bees, family celebrations, Storypark reflections, surveys and opportunities to contribute ideas to our ongoing improvement.

These conversations help shape our educational program, our Quality Improvement Plan (QIP) and the future direction of our kindergarten.

We value every family's voice and believe that listening, reflecting and learning together strengthens our entire community.
